TREE PRUNING
Our certified arborists can determine what type of pruning is necessary to maintain or improve the health, appearance, and safety
of your trees. These techniques include: eliminating branches that rub together; removing limbs that interfere with wires, building facades, gutters, roofs, chimneys, or windows, or that obstruct streets or sidewalks; removing dead or weak limbs that pose a hazard
or may lead to decay; removing diseased or insect-infected limbs; creating better structure to lessen wind resistance and reduce the potential for storm damage; training young trees; removing limbs damaged by adverse weather conditions; thinning or removal of unnecessary branches; improving the shape or silhouette of the tree.

AESTHETIC PRUNING
Aesthetic pruning is a specialized, artful approach to shaping small trees and shrubs that are typically under fifteen feet tall. This practice blends design principals with horticultural science. Aesthetic pruning emphasizes each tree’s natural form, structure, and unique character with a goal of enhancing its visual appeal and health.

PLANT HEALTH CARE
Tree symptoms like discolored leaves, dead branches, or early leaf drop, may require a more complex approach to treatment. Plant Health Care involves routine monitoring, preventive treatment, and a strong working relationship with your arborist. IPM, an ecosystem-based strategy that focuses on long-term prevention of pests through biological controls, habitat manipulation, modification of cultural practices, and the use of resistant plant varieties. Whenever possible, beneficial insects are used to control unwanted pests and diseases. Chemicals are only used after monitoring indicates they are needed. Materials are selected and applied in a manner that minimizes risks for human health and the environment. IPM creates conditions more favorable to plants than pests.

DEFENSIBLE SPACE
In the context of fire control, defensible space is a natural or landscaped area around a structure that has been designed and maintained to reduce fire danger. Creating a defensible space around one’s home may reduce the risk that a fire will spread from
one area to another, or to a structure. This practice, also called fire-scaping, is known to provide firefighters with a safer space from which to defend a threatened area.

TREE/STUMP REMOVAL
Although tree removal is a last resort, there are circumstances when it is necessary. Our certified arborists can help decide whether or not a tree should be removed. If a tree removal is needed, we'll bring a team of skilled professionals with a fleet of equipment to safely and efficiently get the job done. Ask how we can recycle your trees into mulch or lumber. Removal is recommended when the following occur: the tree is dead or dying; the tree is considered irreparably hazardous; the tree is causing an obstruction that is impossible to correct through pruning; the tree is crowding and causing harm to other trees; the tree is to be replaced by a more suitable specimen; the tree should be removed to allow for new construction. EMERGENCY TREE SERVICES
Storms cause limbs or entire trees to fall, often landing on homes, cars, or other structures. The weightof storm-damaged trees is great and can be very dangerous to remove or trim. Our arborists can do the job safely and reduce further risk of damage.

SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPE SERVICES
Sustainable landscaping practices include soil management, proper plant selection and resource conservation. These are used in every phase of landscaping including design, construction, implementation and management to reduce water consumption while minimizing erosion, runoff and the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We can actually improve the health and appearance
of your plants through better management of water. Sustainable landscaping provides increased plant health and longevity,
and is self-perpetuating over time.

TREE PLANTING
Our team can help with your tree planting needs including recommendations on what types of trees are appropriate for specific locations. The wrong tree in the wrong location could lead to future problems due to limited growing space, insects, diseases, or poor growth.

FORESTRY
The Professional Tree Care Company is one of only five Licensed Timber Operators (LTO) based in the immediate Bay Area fully authorized to conduct any type of forest tree cutting and removal. California requires that such forestry work be performed by an LTO who must understand and comply with all laws relating to such tree cutting or removal. Being an LTO and having a full fleet of equipment specifically designed for this sort of work, we are ready to help with your project, big or small. Please call us to discuss your forestry needs, whether in the immediate Bay Area or beyond. Learn more about our Forestry services.

GREEN WASTE RECYCLING - LUMBER & MULCH
When you hire The Professional Tree Care Company, you can be assured 100% of the material generated will be recycled at the highest possible level. In fact, our newest office building is built almost entirely from this "waste!" We take great pride in running our own Green Waste Recycle Yard & Millworks, where we recycle logs and trimmings as lumber, mulches, and biofuel. Unlike most tree services which cut trees into small log rounds, we use cranes for tree removals wherever possible, in order to salvage whole logs for milling into dimensional lumber, landscape timbers, and flooring. We even recycle the sawdust from our sawmill- absolutely nothing ends up in a landfill.
If you would like to purchase mulches recycled from local tree work (either for pickup or delivery), please call Green Waste Recycle Yard directly at (510) 527-8733 for price quotes and other information. Learn more about Green Waste Recycling.
